BALL AND CHAIN??? Romania pledges support to Pakistan
Dan Stoenescu, the Romanian ambassador to pakistan, has committed to providing support for Pakistan within the EU. Romania gives Pakistan a Generalised Scheme of Preferences (GSP+) status, which designates a developing country that has met a certain standard of human rights, labor laws, environmental considerations and good governance. How Pakistan was awarded this is beyond me. Romania also advocates on behalf of Pakistani interests at international forums like the EU and UN.
Romania has a historical role in Pakistan's industrialization, especially with regards to oil, fertilizer and cement industries. The recommitment shifts focus onto areas like drone technology, cybersecurity, and NATO "peacekeeping training."
At a meeting with the Romanian delegation, Pakistani lawmakers begged for removal of trade barriers like tariffs and asked Romania to open its borders to "people-to-people exchanges."
