Is Romania Growing? Nope, Just Their Cost of Living!
For ten months Romania has endured the embarassing position of the highest EU inflation rate. This January, they were overtaken by Hungary's 5.7% rate. The inflation rate in the EU and in the euro area rose 0.1% each from december into this January.
The European Central Bank is targeting 2% per month inflation, which Romania is failing to reach. Although the Romanian inflation rate fell from 5.5% to 5.3% into January of this year (alongside seven other EU member states), there is still a long way to go for fiscal security.
