Interim President takes power after HUMILIATING resignation of Klaus Iohannis
Following the resignation of former President Klaus Iohannis, an interim president has been named. Ilie Bolojan has assumed power as acting President and will carry out the duties of the office until May when a victor emerges from the planned presidential elections. The scope of his authority is limited by constitutional restrictions which prevent him from addressing parliament on major national issues, dissolving parliament, and calling referendums.
Bolojan was previously the interim leader of the center-right National Liberal Party. Cătălin Predoiu is expected to take his place in this role.
