MILLIONS MUST READ: Minister of Education to Rebuild Romanian School System

Source

The Romanian minister of education, Daniel David, is upset with the inefficacy of the current Romanian school system. The first national report of numerical illiteracy showed that 16% of Romanian children are unable to understand basic maths. Embarrassing!

His comments center on the reform of the tenure system and national assessments for being atypical amongst other European countries. This atypical system has been producing a nearly 50% rate of functional illiteracy amongst high school graduates. This, David says, is a national security risk.

In order to ensure quality and standardized education, he targets rural areas with many local schools, intending to bring them under the banner of one large school that serves up to a 100km area, where they can ensure quality teachers at each grade level.
